1. Design discipline(s)
● Branding
● Packaging Design
● Board Game design
● Visual Advertising
2. Aims
Spellbook: Trading Card Game is a revolutionary card game in it’s genre. Fitting perfectly among the competitors like Magic: The Gathering and Heartstone, Spellbook: TCG offers a new way to play card games, interesting mechanics and lore as well as deck building that treats all players equally and rejects the randomised card pack idea.
The game requires funding in order to be published, and that funding can be provided using Kickstarter, a crowd-funding website that allows people to preach their idea to the masses and accept financial pledges of support in return for the finished product. Kickstarter campaigns are no different to any other advertising campaign - quality of the product alongside the visual presentation of the project need to convince investors to pledge.
As part of this design project, Spellbook: TCG needs to be finalised and a working prototype needs to be subjected to testing with focus groups. A marketing campaign will then need to be created, and it should include a product website, Kickstarter campaign with all the necessary visualisations as well as several blog posts to keep the investors informed on the progress of the production.
A printing company will have to be found depending on the amount of money pledged - if the product gets fully backed and receives enough popularity, a Chinese printing contractor will have to be found and negotiated with.
3. Specific final outcomes
This project requires following outcomes to be produced:
● Spellbook: Trading Card Game finalised and prototyped (cards, rulebook, packaging).
● Online website advertising the game and allowing people to purchase it.
● Kickstarter campaign with visual infographics for all the necessary stretch goals and outcomes.
● Kickstarter blog posts with the intent to keep the community informed on the development of the project.
● (If the campaign receives enough funding) Publishing deal and a large volume printing of the game.
